Project Overview

At the invitation of the City of Winnipeg, Les suites Taché is a project made possible by Réseau Compassion Network in partnership with CoHabit and Actionmarguerite. Les suites Taché, located at 825 Taché Boulevard will provide intentional and inclusive multi-family housing where affordable and supportive residences are integrated with market rent suites to create a vibrant community where all thrive.

Key Features

65-unit apartment building, six (6) stories.
100% of units are accessible or accessible-ready.
A minimum of twenty (20) units at affordable rates (Disability Rent Assist Rate).
Targeted support for individuals with physical disabilities in the affordable units.
À la carte services available for all residents (e.g. cleaning, recreation, meals).
Common area on the ground floor to foster social interaction and reduce isolation.

Les suites Taché is committed to ensuring that the impact on the existing neighbors and the broader North St. Boniface neighborhood is positive and community-focused. To do so, we will:

Foster strong relationships between Les suites Taché residents and their neighbors, promoting a sense of belonging and connection.
Design all suites to be either fully accessible or accessible-ready, with proper clearances and adaptable layouts. This ensures the building is barrier free for everyone at any stage of life.
Provide sufficient parking spaces for all residents.
Honour the heritage character of the site and surrounding neighborhood through thoughtful design that reflects the scale, rhythm and proportions of the existing residential context.

Broader Impact and Goals

Upholds and advances human rights for people with physical disabilities.
Offers more appropriate community-based alternatives to long-term care.
Frees up long-term care beds for those with medical needs.
Tackles loneliness and mental health challenges through intentional community design.
Demonstrates the effectiveness of integrated, inclusive housing.
Addresses the urgent need for accessible housing in Winnipeg.

  • Review comments from Community Open House.
  • Continue to work with the City of Winnipeg on planning due diligence.
  • Refine design concept with stakeholder inputs.
  • Submit a development application to the City of Winnipeg.
  • Secure funding for disability supports.
  • Construction scheduled to begin December 2026.
